Hidden away in the mountains of Forsand, Norway, are these new mountain lodges designed by KOKO architects. to be used by hikers. The group of buildings includes a main building, sleeping cabins, a toilet with a storage room and a sauna.

The self-catering lodges are clad in rolled zinc, which resists the wind and snow and does not require maintenance for decades. If visitors need water, they can retrieve it from the nearby lake. There’s wood fireplaces for heating, while solar panels provide power for the lighting of the lodges.

Inside the lodges, the interiors use a lot of wood, creating a warm and friendly environment. All of the buildings have a wall of windows positioned to take advantage of the picturesque landscape.

The facilities are minimal, but have everything you need after a long day of hiking. The sleeping areas have enough room to accommodate 30 to 25 trekkers.

And if a hiker wants to have a shower, they can wash themselves in an outdoor shower that runs right next to a mountain stream.
